TAPS Apprentice

“The way I think of TAPS is that they’re a security blanket,if anything happens they will always be there for you. If something happens to my host and he cant take me on anymore I can always go back to TAPS and they will immediately find me work again and my field officer is really supportive, he’s more of a mate.”

“TAPS organise payment of wages, keep records of holidays accrued and payment. This is very appealing to employers when employing Apprentices – knowing the administration side is taken care of.

The liaison between Employer / Apprentice / Field Officer is great. From our experience, the TAPS Field Officer’s build a strong relationship with the Apprentice and can act as a mediator for both Employer and Apprentice. The Field Officer’s provide a great backup.

Some Apprentices may not be suited to a particular plumber’s field of expertise and TAPS may offer the flexibility for that Apprentice to be relocated with another plumber in the industry. This gives Apprentices a wider scope of experience.”

Wayne is an Ex-TAPS Apprentice, who now takes on TAPS Apprentices.

“The accounting side of things is all taken care of, as well as the Apprentices TAFE training. There are also benefits for the Apprentices themselves, like additional training and if you fall short of work you can always go back to TAPS to be relocated.”
