What do TAPS do and what is Group Training?

The role of a Group Training Organisation, such as TAPS is to employ, monitor and supply Apprentices to potential Host Employers. TAPS monitors and supports you throughout your Apprenticeship and even helps you get work when you finish it.

What kind of work will I do as a Plumber?

In a nutshell, plumbers install, test, and maintain pipes, fixtures, metal roofing, fittings, gas meters and regulators. But that’s just scratching the surface.

What kind of work will I do as a Roof Plumber?

Roof Plumbers install, alter and maintain metal roofs. This includes roof and wall claddings, roof gutters and storm water disposal for both domestic and commercial buildings. But that is just the start.

Where can a Plumbing Apprenticeship take me?

The sky’s the limit in the Plumbing Industry. TAPS have Host Employers that were once TAPS Apprentices who are now running their own successful Plumbing businesses.

You can extend you studies to advance certificate level and diploma qualifications. You can have a successful career in trade employment, become a supervisor or get into project management. You may choose to run your own business.

How do TAPS support Apprentices?

Most of all TAPS are there for you throughout your Apprenticeship, but some other areas of support are:

  •  You are employed by an organisation that’s aim is to train you to become a competent, well-rounded quality tradesperson

  •  A TAPS Field Officer is dedicated to you personally for support

  •  One day collision avoidance/car control course for all new apprentices

  •  Small plant and equipment training in addition to your training plan

  • PPE and Safety bag supplied at induction and when required, for the full term of your apprenticeship

  • Regular monitoring through site visits

  •  Coordinate trade school

  •  Safety Committee meetings between TAPS and Apprentice representatives
